Are you comfortable ‘taking up space’?

The other day we had this conversation in the women’s group about TAKING up space.

It was a sharing circle, part of our Women’s empowerment program.

We meet weekly for initiation into new practices, and holding for each other space for processing: emotions, thoughts, beliefs, stories related to love, romance, intimacy, relationships…and anything else that is alive in any of the participants.

And as one of the participants had the turn to share, she felt really uncomfortable in ‘receiving’ Receiving attention. Using the space for asking what she needed in the moment She needed support, guidance and being held in letting go of some painful love related story.

And as she was receiving what she need – it was challenging for her to relax.

She was self-conscious.

Uncomfortable with ‘taking up space’.

Uncomfortable receiving valuable guidance. Even this is what she actually paid for.

I just would like to let you know, all of you, especially women:

• you deserve to take up space

• you deserve to receive what you need

• you are worthy of attention

IT IS OKAY FOR YOU TO TAKE UP SPACE. YOU ARE HERE TO TAKE UP SPACE!
